A few weeks ago, we received an email from Kui – and hers is a phenomenal story.
Hi. My name is Kui. I’m 25 years old.
I’ve been addicted to drugs and alcohol, to the extent of going to prison at 19 years of age.
I’m now an entrepreneur, and more importantly, a mother, and I hope to encourage others that there’s so much more to life and there’s always a second chance.
The best lessons I have learnt through my journey are:
Forgiving myself and others is a gift to myself it frees you from the past experiences and relationships.
To get over the past, you must now accept that it is over and it cannot hurt you anymore.
Your past mistakes do not define you.
I am not bound by what people think or say about me. I am LOVED and I DO BELONG.
I began my business in June 2013. My company is called Bamboo Flooring limited. A great lesson in patience and hard work can be learned from the story of planting bamboo.
When it is planted, it has to be watered and nurtured for four years and it doesn’t outwardly develop even an inch. You can imagine how discouraging it is for the farmer who has nothing substantial to show for all their labour.
But in the fifth year, something happens: The bamboo shoots up to more than 80 feet in just one growing season! And my journey through recovery can be described through the story of bamboo. Just like the farmer, I planted little seeds of positive change in my life, and I had to water them each day slowly until they bore fruit and my life was transformed… and that’s how my company came to be.
It’s never too late to turn your life around.
